The Southern Door Education Foundation supports all aspects of education at Southern Door. 

The Foundation has funds available for students as well as teachers for continuing education.  We support the fines arts and educational aspects. 

We take applications for funds through personal written request. 

The Foundation has annually supported the Missoula Children's Theater, along with awarding up to two $1000.00 scholarships to graduating seniors.  The Education Foundation has funded students that excel in academics or fine arts for camps or special classes. 

The Foundation has sent students to music and science camps, donated to several school functions,Young Ambassadors program, Waniger School restoration, and several other enrichment activities.  

Our organization meets as needed with a minimum of twice a year or as request are submitted.   The Southern Door Education Foundation also administors scholarships for other organizations and indidivually funded scholarhships we are a 501 (C) 3 organization, all donations are fully tax deductable.

We accept donations for the general scholarship fund.

All of our funds are generated through recycling and this in turn also helps save our planet for future generations.

We stress recycling as our only source of fundraising:

Items we collect for recycling include:

  • General Mills BOXTOPS-4-EDUCATION
  • TADYCH'S ECONO FOOD receipts,
  • Pull tabs from aluminum cans for the RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE,  
  • Recycler USA takes used inkjet cartridges,
  • Old Cellphones for familes at risks,
  • Laser cartridges (Please no toner tubes)
  • Inkjet cartridges of all types.  
These are just a few items we collect the list will be updated and remember "WHEN IN DOUBT, DON'T THROW IT OUT, contact us maybe we can recycle it.

All items can be placed in the collection barrel that is in front of the Elementary / Middle School office.

Scholarships are accepted in a written letter.  Please explain the enhancement this program will offer you, why and how it fits into your area of interest, cost of the program and include any deadlines regarding the program you wish to attend.  Completed applications can be mailed to:

We have been in existence since August 1989 we help enhance the educational experience of our students by supporting educational experiences that they need help with:

Over the last few years we have supported:

  • We brought the original "Home for the Holidays" to Southern Door
  • Camp Invention Students

  • Welcome books to incoming 4-K Students

  • Over $1000.00 in welcome dollars to new teachers for classroom supplies

  • Over $10,000.00 to graduating seniors

  • Over $5000.00 to continue Missoula Children's Theater

  • Over $1500.00 to Interlochen Center for Music and other music camps and  science camps

  • $3000.00  for Waniger School restoration

  • Over $300.00 for our students to travel through the Young Ambassadors Program

  • Over $700.00 in welcoming gifts to our pre-school CHILD DEVELOPMENT DAYS program screening "GOODIE BAG"

  • Over $500.00 to purchase professionally printed assigned seating tickets for the high school musical

  • We were responsible for bringing the Space Lab to Southern Door

  • Sending our students on the archeological dig when the state was digging for the highway

  • Covering the cost of students in need for school trips
